OCARINA MUSEUM - Budrio
OCARINA MUSEUM - Budrio

Named after Franco Ferri, co-founder of the Municipal School of Ocarina, the Ocarina and Terracotta Musical Instruments Museum showcases hundreds of pieces including musical and working instruments, photographs, records, sheet music, and documents that tell the story of the small terracotta flute, the ocarina, for which Budrio's name has become famous worldwide.
Among others, the exhibition features important specimens of the first ocarinas, dating back to the mid-nineteenth century, handcrafted by inventor Giuseppe Donati; then those from the early twentieth century created by Cesare Vicinelli, known as the Stradivari of the ocarina, and finally instruments decorated with liberty-style motifs and equipped with a metal piston made by Alberto Mezzetti, who manufactured ocarinas from 1870 to 1912.
