TOWERS OF BOLOGNA
THE TOWERS OF BOLOGNA

At one time there were more than a hundred towers in Bologna, built between the end of the 1200s and the first half of the 1400s: they were the homes of the noble families who built them for defense and prestige.
The towers were thickened within the first circle of walls of which they represented an additional form of protection.
Only about twenty of the initial few have survived us and only a few, including the most famous of the Asinellis, can be visited.
Here is the list of still existing towers : Accursio, Agresti, Alberici, Asinelli, Azzoguidi, Bertolotti, Carrari, Catalani, Acquaintances, Dalla Perle, Galluzzi, Garisenda, Ghisilieri, Guidozagni, Lambertini, Lapi, Oseletti, Prendiparte, Ramponi.
Editor's note: in the App GUIDE OF BOLOGNA of the ItalGuide series you will find the tour itinerary dedicated to the towers of Bologna with the audio guide that will allow you to make a tour to get to know them in detail
