THE METROPOLITAN CITY OF BOLOGNA

In 2015, the set of municipalities that made up the province of Bologna became Metropolitan City, effectively replacing the administrative body Province and merging thus 55 municipalities - of which 7 in the Imolese area, which, however, from a geographical point of view, belong to the territory of Romagna.

At the bottom of this page you will find the complete list of locations in the province of Bologna with the respective link to the dedicated pages.

The Metropolitan City of Bologna borders the provinces of Prato, Pistoia, Modena, Ferrara, and Ravenna, and the Metropolitan City of Florence.

Bologna and Florence are the only two metropolitan cities bordering each other in Italy; by train, the two historic centers can be reached in 37 minutes.
