Inaugurated in 1763 with the first performance of The Triumph of Clelia by Gluck, the Bologna Municipal Theater is famous for the high quality of the performances and for the world and cosmopolitan level of the artists who work there. But also for hosting the premieres of various works by Wagner and other foreign composers. In the historic center of Bologna, in the university district, the Teatro building is among the most extraordinary examples of the eighteenth century Italian, by the famous Bibiena architect.
Nowadays, the Theater, with a capacity of more than 1000 seats, continues the great tradition of stage opera performances and also performs ballet performances and symphonic music concerts both of the highest level favored by the excellent visibility and acoustics of the structure.
