civic Museum of the Middle Ages
MUSEO CIVICO MEDIEVALE

The fifteenth-century Palazzo Ghisilardi (or Ghisilardi Fava), houses the Museo Civico Medievale di Bologna, and is itself a work of art, due to the presence of Renaissance architectural works, including some beautiful frescoes by the Carracci brothers.
The Museum presents important collections including that of the marquis Cospi, with natural and artificial mirabilia, the Marsili collection, an important collection of ancient weapons and the Palagi one, dating back to 1860.
The works, on three floors of the building, in addition to the Collections go from the fourteenth to the seventeenth century and testify the medieval history of Bologna, starting from the early medieval artifacts of the VII-IX centuries.
Worthy of note are the funerary monuments of the doctors of the "Studio", glass and ivory, illuminated manuscripts, sculptures and bronzes, books and religious objects.
