ALBERGATI PALACE
The palace was built by the Albergati family from 1519 on the foundations of previous residential buildings located in Via Saragozza.
The architectural paternity is contested by the experts between Baldassarre Peruzzi and Domenico Aimo da Varignana.
The building has a simple façade, without architectural orders, almost 55 meters long, with boulder windows on the main floor with Ionic style niches and lower windows, without gable.
The complex is divided into two parts, one of which to the west belonged to the senatorial branch of the Albergati family and the one to the east to the secondary branch.
In the rooms of the Palace you can admire frescoes and statues by Francesco Gessi (Bologna 1588 - 1649) Andrea Sirani (1610-1670) and Bartolomeo Cesi (1556-1629).
At the end of the nineteenth century the Bersani family (of which a descendant is the sculptor Camillo Bersani) bought the palace from the heirs of Francesco Cesare, last of the Albergati.

A Bologna luci puntate sulla New York degli Anni Ottanta con la mostra Warhol&Friends. New York negli anni ‘80.
Dal 29 settembre 2018 al 24 febbraio 2019 a Palazzo Albergati di Bologna in mostra circa 150 opere che raccontano Warhol, la sua vita e la sua produzione. Ma non solo.
Tra storie di eccessi, trasgressione e mondanità, i protagonisti del vivacissimo clima artistico di una sempre nuova New York come Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat (quest’anno è il trentennale della sua morte), Francesco Clemente, Keith Haring, Julian Schnabel e Jeff Koons, con circa 150 opere dal 29 settembre saranno a Palazzo Albergati di Bologna nella mostra Warhol&Friends. New York negli anni ’80.
Letti troppo spesso come il decennio del disincanto e della superficialità, gli anni ‘80 hanno un loro modo di fare politica in un’esplosione di colori e figure dove l’arte non è solo esperienza visiva.
A raccontare il fermento irripetibile di un decennio che ha visto combinarsi arte, musica, cinema e letteratura - nel momento in cui gallerie e mercato internazionale decretano il clamoroso successo del ritorno alla pittura - a Bologna arrivano Warhol, Haring con Untitled (1983), Schnabel con Dunciad (Trances of Bouboul) del 1983, Koons con Art Magazine Ads (1989), Basquiat con Untitled (1983) e Bertoglio con Grace Jones e Madonna (1983), solo per citarne alcuni.
In mostra con 36 opere e 38 polaroid Andy Warhol che, dopo essere stato vittima nel 1968 di un terribile attentato, proprio all’inizio degli anni ‘80 torna al centro della vita artistica e sociale di New York realizzando alcuni tra i suoi cicli più interessanti presenti in mostra come Shoes, Hammer & Sickle, Camouflage, Lenin, Joseph Beuys, Vesuvius, Knives.
Con il patrocinio della Regione Emilia Romagna e del Comune di Bologna, la mostra Warhol&Friends. New York negli anni ’80 è prodotta e organizzata dal Gruppo Arthemisia e curata da Luca Beatrice.
