BOLOGNA FILM LIBRARY

BOLOGNA FILM LIBRARY
CINETECA DI BOLOGNA

Founded in 1962, over the years it has become one of the most powerful European film libraries.
Located in the former factory of the Manifattura tabacche and the former slaughterhouse, the Cineteca is a veritable city of Cinema, with a huge library dedicated to Renzi Renzi (famous film critic and writer as well as cultural organizer), an archive with several tens of thousands of "objects" of both film and photos, documents, two cinemas with their own programming, but above all with an intense research and restoration of the works of the "seventh art".

BOLOGNA FOTOGRAFATA. TRE SECOLI DI SGUARDI [ended]

PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION by CINETECA OF BOLOGNA

The liv ing story of a city, of its people. It's what a photographer's gaze can do, a witness ...
The living story of a city, of its people. This is what a photographer can look like, a tireless witness to everything that happens, of everyday life. So, through the gaze of many photographers, we want to retrace the twentieth century Bologna, the one that faces modernity, while still leaving to the goal some remnant of majestic antiquity (the walls) or an unimaginable river profile. The unique ability of photography to capture and fix urban revolutions at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries is the spark that will trigger a long journey during which we will meet characters and stories of the city (from World War I to the years of fascism, from liberation to reconstruction after the Second World War, with Dozza, Lercaro, Zangheri), intertwining this path with that of photography itself, art and craft that in Bologna has seen artists such as Enrico Pasquali, Aldo Ferrari and Nino Comaschi at work.
