Calderara di Reno is a town of 13,260 inhabitants in the province of Bologna. Its origins are very ancient, and probably date back to Villanovian time, in this area is also ensured the Roman presence; in this regard is very interesting the Cippo del Triumvirato, erected in memory of the Triumvirate between Ottaviano Augusto, Marco Antonio and Marco Emilio Lepido, who in the 43 b.C., at the death of Julius Caesar, gathered here to break up the territories belonging to the Roman Empire. Due to its proximity to the city of Bologna, just 16 kilometers away, the town has always been under the control of the city, lining its side from time to time during the wars and battles to control the territory.

Calderara is a great starting point for all motorcycle enthusiasts because it is in the center of what is now known as the Motor Valley, and its roads are often the destination for motorbikes or groups of enthusiasts who wants drive on beautiful roads, full of turns, having a great cornering experience and huge leaning. Many holiday packages are organized for motorcycle lovers and not only (we must always remember that Emilia Romagna is also famous for its excellent gastronomy), with the possibility of speedway running on two or four wheels (http://www.motorvalley.it). Of course there are many museums dedicated to the most famous motor homes: the one dedicated to Ferruccio Lamborghini, where you can admire the entire production of the famous car manufacturer, from the first Carloca tractor from 1947 to the latest sports car such as Miura, Countach and Urraco, to name just a few; the Ducati Museum, which allows you to retrace the whole story of the famous brand; the Umberto Panini Collection, despite being a private collection, was declared the Official Collection of Maserati Cars, and today is the official historical collection of the brand. In addition to museums, too many to name them all, for those who, in addition to watching, want to go on speedway, there are plenty of circuits, both for motorcycles and cars, in the Motor Valley, as well as 11 kartodroms: you have your pick in conclusion!
EVENTS AND FAIRS
Various events take place at Calderara: the first days of April there is Calderara in Fiore, a market dedicated to flowers and garden plants, where you can also buy natural products; between June and July, in the Church of San'Elena in Sacerno, a district of Calderara, in the evening you can listen classical music concerts; at the end of July, as tradition, take place the Lippolo Festival, or Beer Festival, with the best beer coming directly from Munich and of course good food, as the crescentine, but also the pork shank cooked with beer, all accompanied by lot of music; in the middle of October there is the Festival of Ancient Flavors, this year at the 26th edition, an opportunity to take a walk for the town and tasting typical dishes, including chestnuts, crescentine and very good raviole, in addition to the presence of local craftsmanship stands; the penultimate weekend of November take place the Autumn Festival, where it is possible walk between local craft shops and exhibitions of agricultural machines and vintage toys, savoring the typical flavors of the place; at the beginning of December, there is the Tortellino Festival, this year at its 13th edition, a "tasty show", as has often been defined, which allows to taste this dish, which is one of the most emblematic of Emilia Romagna and of the Bologna area in particular, both in broth and dry version.
