CASALFIUMANESE Travel Guide

Casalfiumanese is a village of 3.441 inhabitants in the province of Bologna. Its origins are ancient, dating back to the Bronze Age as evidenced by the finds dating from the 14th to the 10th century b.C. Around the year 1000 a castle was built, called Castrum Casale, on a small hill, so in a very defensible position, and the medieval structure is still recognizable today. Given its position, its history has been linked to the territorial struggles between Bologna and Imola. After the conquest by Cesare Borgia, Casalfiumanese took part for a long time of the Church.
